Pico Union Project
10/19/2017 | Los Angeles, CA
Planting Partners: Koreatown Youth + Community Center and DoubleTree by Hilton
This NeighborWoods Month event is all about neighborhoods. Koreatown Youth and Community Center, sponsored by DoubleTree by Hilton, will be planting new trees in the historic Pico Union neighborhood near downtown. This neighborhood has an 8–12% tree canopy compared to the 21% average of greater Los Angeles. The neighborhood is also surrounded by busy freeways — the 101, the 110, and the 10 — where carbon emissions significantly impact the health of residents. The trees planted in Pico Union will have a significant impact on the economically and environmentally underserved community.
